The PROGRAMS FELLOWSHIP is a 1-year long paid fellowship for students who have recently completed a Masters in Public Health or a science related field with an interest in oral health or completed their undergraduate degree and are planning to take a year off before pursuing a DDS, DMD or a Masters in Dental Hygiene in the Fall 2019.


This Fellowship is located at Oral Health America’s headquarters, 180 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL, begins in June/July of 2018 and ends in June/July of 2019. Relocation and transportation costs of the fellowship are the responsibility of the student and are not covered by Oral Health America.


The goal of Program Fellowship is to provide knowledge of the world of dentistry and oral health beyond a private practice dental office. Fellow will gain:


  • Experience in nonprofit management with a leading oral health organization
  • Opportunities for programmatic community health research and communications about direct service to vulnerable population
  • Project leadership experience at the nation’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the oral health of all Americans
  • Opportunities to develop leadership skills in communications, strategic planning and financial management
  • Opportunities to engage in public health dentistry in a variety of community-based settings
  • Invaluable experience working with the public to solve some of the nation’s toughest healthcare challenges
  • Exposure to the latest dental technology, literature and policies affecting oral care
  • Connections to dozens of dental school leaders, oral health professionals, dental manufacturers and national organizations and associations
  • Opportunity to represent OHA at ADEA’s GoDental Fair during the ADEA Annual Meeting or a national public health conference

Interviews will be granted to candidates who meet the qualifications of the fellowship, illustrate good academic standing, have strong references and are interested in pursuing a career in oral health or public health.
