2014 HDA Regional Dental Student Conference in Chicago is a Success
CHICAGO, IL. April 15, 2014—The Hispanic Dental Association Student Chapter at University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry hosted the 2014 HDA Regional Dental Student Conference. The students participated in workshops focused on HDA core areas: service, education, advocacy and leadership.
More than 70 dental students from Western University, University of Illinois Chicago, A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona, University of Detroit, Mercy, University of Michigan, University of Indiana, LECOM School of Dental Medicine, Tufts University, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Columbia University, University of Mississippi, and University of Minnesota participated in the conference. The Hispanic Dental Association organized the event in partnership with student, professional, faculty HDA members in Chicago and with support from P&G and Crest Oral-B. Millie Mendez, Director of Student Services chaired the Regional Conference Committee to promote student engagement and inclusion.“The conference was a great opportunity for student leaders in the region to connect and through direct interaction and in a learning environment,” said David Peña, CEO and Executive Director of the Hispanic Dental Association.
Attendees reported that the conference exceeded their expectations, with 100% agreeing with the statement that because of this conference they are “more driven to promote the HDA’s mission of Service, Education, Advocacy and Leadership.”
