Student Chapter Mission Statement
The Hispanic Student Dental Association (HSDA) Chapter at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine (CUCDM) aims to create a unified voice for oral health students and faculty and seeks to promote and advance the oral health issues of the Hispanic community in New York.

ICC resident dinner – April 19, 2019, Washington Heights: The Incarnation Children’s Center is a medical and well-being home for children and young adults living with HIV/AIDS. It is located right here in Washington Heights, and is the only center of its kind in New York. Columbia HSDA hosted a fundraiser earlier this year to be able to put on a dinner & game night with the residents of the ICC.
Cleft Lip and Palate Mission Trip Lunch & Learn – April 29, 2019, CUMC: Dr. Eisig, department head of Oral Surgery, will be giving a talk on his mission trips to Columbia to provide free cleft lip and palate surgeries to underserved communities. This event will occur in partnership with the International Oral Health Organization.
Vive Tu Vida! Get up! Get moving! July 14, 2019, Bronx– This is an annual community health fair, hosted by the Hispanic Federation, where Columbia HSDA will host a booth where we will provide free oral screenings, oral hygiene instruction, oral hygiene care bags, and information on visiting Columbia’s dental clinic.
Clinical Spanish lessons – classes in Spanish for the dental clinical setting occurred bimonthly during the Fall semester, and will pick up again this summer.
