Two San Antonio Dentists named to National Board
Dr. Adriana Segura and Dr. Luis Yepes have been selected to serve as
Trustees on the Board of the Hispanic Dental Association
WASHINGTON, D.C. December 16, 2013– The Hispanic Dental Association announced today the selection of two trustees from San Antonio to serve on its national board to assist in the elimination of oral health disparities. Dr. Adriana Segura and Dr. Luis Yepes will support and help steer the HDA’s forward-moving mission in 2014.
Adriana Segura D.D.S., M.S. is a professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Segura graduated from dental school in 1990 from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston and completed a general practice residency program in 1991 from Miami Veterans Hospital in Florida. She received her certificate and masters degree in Pediatric Dentistry in 1993 from the University of Iowa. She was the director of the General Practice Residency and Hospital Dentistry at the University of Iowa from 1993 through 1999. She was the Predoctoral Director of the Pediatric Dentistry Program from 1999 to 2005 at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). She was the Interim-Chair for the Department of Community Dentistry at the UTHSCSA and the Director of Ricardo Salinas Clinic for three years. She also holds additional appointments as Professor, in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry and the Department of Pediatrics. She is currently the Associate Dean for Student Affairs.

Dr. Luis Camilo Yepes, DDS. MS is an Assistant Professor at the University Of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. Following his graduation with an Endodontics certification in 1999 from Colombia’s Pontifical Xaverian University, he came to United States in 2007 to complete a General Practice Residency program at the University of Kentucky for two years. In 2009, Dr. Yepes started a Fellowship in Endodontics and General Dentistry at the University Of Kentucky College Of Dentistry, where he worked as an Instructor at the clinic and pre-clinic.
In 2012 Dr. Yepes started working as an Assistant Professor and is now an Assistant group leader and Module Director for the treatment planning at the comprehensive Dentistry department at University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. Dr. Yepes is also involved in multiple teaching activities supporting undergraduate programs.
