GSAHDA Wins Chapter of the Year Award

WASHINGTON, D.C.– The Greater San Antonio Hispanic Dental Association Chapter was named the Hispanic Dental Association’s (HDA) 2013 Professional Chapter of the Year at the Hispanic Dental Association’s Annual Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts on September 28, 2013. This award recognizes a chapter for outstanding efforts to provide service, education, advocacy and leadership in Hispanic oral health.

“It is an honor for GSAHDA to receive this recognition.  We are a young organization that has found success through the hard-work and dedication of our members who aspire to serve, educate, advocate and lead our dental profession,” said Christina Meiners, DDS and President of the GSAHDA. “We will continue our commitment to help the under-served community of San Antonio.”

GSAHDA: Receiving the Professional Chapter of the Year Award

University of Maryland School of Dentistry Hispanic Student Dental Association Named National Student Chapter of the Year

WASHINGTON, D.C. October 9, 2013– The University of Maryland School of Dentistry Hispanic Student Dental Association Chapter was named the Hispanic Dental Association’s (HDA) 2013 National Student Chapter of the Year at the Hispanic Dental Association’s recent 2013 Annual Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts. This award recognizes a chapter for outstanding efforts to provide service, education, advocacy and leadership in Hispanic oral health.

Selected by a committee consisting of HDA National Office staff members and invited jurors, the chapter stood out among 34 affiliate dental student chapters across the nation. This award was based on their level of engagement and participation with national efforts, their membership size, the commitment of their faculty advisor, and the frequency and variety of community outreach events.
